"I'm doing pretty good," Lilith replied. She them looked at Rain, to see what her answer would be.

Justin involuntarily rubbed his shoulder as he started eating...

Rain nodded. "I'm alright." She then took a sip of her apple juice. She really didn't know what to think... she was confused...

Rain looked confused. Lilith hoped it wasn't because of her. She liked having Rain as a friend. She glanced at Justin and asked him the question she eventually asked everyone she met. "Do you play Quidditch?"

A familiar owl came through the window, along with several others. The large dark brown owl with a cracked beak, a scar over its eye, and a menacing scowl which seemed to be glued to the feathered creatures face landed besides her food after it dropped a letter into her lap with her family crest stamped as a seal. She opened the letter and began reading, frowning, she sighed. Another letter from her father... saying the same thing it usually does. She'd later write him back with the same firm answer...
She pat the owl on the head as it leaned into her palm with the same scowl. "Hey Hermes." she smiled to it, folding up the letter she placed it in her robes pocket.

An owl came and delivered a letter to Rain who she called Hermes. Lilith smiled, reminded of how much she liked animals. "I like your owl, Rain," she said. He may look a bit intimidating, but still. She glanced at Justin. Again. Blushing at the hope that he was glancing at her too, she convinced herself to turn her atention back to Rain.

Sam walked into the Dining Hall and found Rain and Lilith, with Justin a few seats away. Rain was stuffing a letter into her robes. "What's up, guys?" She said casually, senses on full alert to sense any hositiity at all. When it didn't look there were any, she asked curiously, "Who's the letter from, Rain?"

Rain tried ignoring Justin's presence... but she couldn't help looking at him a few times before sighing to pull out her homework which she began on. "I like your owl, Rain." Lilith said. Rain smiled and nodded at her, looking back down at her homework, her owl Hermes began pecking at what was left of her sausage then took off with it out the bright open window above. She looked after it, holding her quill loosely in her hand. She softened her eyes... maybe she should reconsider her father's request... She looked down, flicking her eyes at Justin a brief second, she started on her comc homework.

Lilith looked up to see Sam. She waved at her as she entered. She seemed a bit tense when she first came, but loosened up after a few seconds.

Suddenly hearing Sam's voice as she sat down, she shrugged. "My dad."

Sam nodded to Lilith. "Hey. So, got a letter from home, Rain?" She sighed. "Wish I got those."

Rain laughed. Sometimes she wished she didn't. "Yeah, only my little sister never owls me so all I have is one sometimes from my dad so it's not a big deal."

Sam shook her head. "Nah, it's a big deal. I'd give anything to get letters from my dad, even if they were .... let's say 'not nice' - which they probably would be, considering. Just to know he was thinking about me."

Oh no, Lilith thought. It DID have something to do with her. The way Rain was acting....Lilith felt horrible. She listened to Rain and Sam's conversation, but looked at Justin, which helped her calm down and clear her mind. She tried to think about what she could've done. She knew she was probably over-reacting. Or rather, hoped.

"He can't be that bad." Rain said offhandedly. She looked to the side without turning her head at Lilith who looked a bit panicked at Justin who had been keeping quiet off in his own little world. Rain looked at him, then slowly to her again... She really liked having Lilith as a friend. She was kind enough, although Rain knew she liked him-he liked her. Rain also knew Lilith wasn't a complete idiot and probably found out about Rain's... feelings.
Rain sighed, trying to talk to Sam again. Her mind felt really cloudy lately so it was hard to concentrate.
